In some MMOPRG, there is a big difference in dps between melee and range classes. Usually, range classes have a huge advantage compared to melee classes in terms of dps. At least in my opinion, MS2 does a good job in balancing the classes so far. Knights and Berserkers are super tanky. In fact, there is a clear difference between the Knights and Berserkers. The Berserker is the DPS warrior, still tanky in relation to other classes, but designed around bashing peoples’ faces in. Whereas the Knight is the game’s only “tank” or defensive support, sacrificing some of its damage potential for utility like damage mitigation.
So Knights dodging attacks is not really a problem and can survive OHKO attacks so most of the time they can worry about attacking. The only melee class that is squishy is the Thief, and its hardest to play because they are squishy and have to micro and macro manage their skills in order to achieve optimal DPS and keep the poison DoT up while dodging. But I believe Thieves have the highest potential DPS, but it takes a lot of work to achieve it. Range classes technically have no defensive or survivability stats/buffs and will have to avoid most damage from bosses/monsters which will dramatically affect their DPS. If they get hit and die, then their DPS goes down the drain because well you cannot attack while you are dead.

There is a typical misunderstanding about thieves here. It’s not poison that’s a large portion of your damage but everything. What you micromanage is sp so your active buff doesn’t disappear. Also paying close attention to malice so you get the extra damage from your other skills rather than wasting your buff. The class, even when it max dpm isn’t the best though so understand that when you’re at bosses, and because of your awful range on your skills and full melee attacks, you’re going to be on the lower end almost all the time assuming equal gear. Skill in this game plays a very small portion of your actual damage. It’s more reliant on gear and class choice in the end.
Of course, the specific situation depends on the enumerator, melee classes generally have a harder time with bosses than ranged because most bosses do more melee attacks than ranged attacks.
Any time when a melee character has to move outside of melee range and wait for the boss to finish attacking is time wasted while a ranged character can continue to attack.
Then there’s also the issue with bosses that like to jump around everywhere, ranged characters can often continue attacking during this while melee characters have to chase the boss around.
